Hello Simon, Thank you very much for submitting your item for an appraisal and for your patience. The presented object appears to be an oil on canvas painting, depicting an autumnal forest landscape. It measures approximately 45 x 36 inches, is framed and looks to be in good condition. It is signed near the bottom right corner of the canvas and an inscription on the back of the frame attributes the work to Robert Elsocht (Belgian, 1908-1999) and provides the title "Lost Forest." According to Invaluable: "Robert Elsocht (1908-1999) Belgian painter settled in Northern California. Known for California landscapes, he eventually worked toward greater abstraction as this example illustrates. His work is represented in numerous Museums including the California Art Museum, Richmond Art Center, Missoula Collets in Montana, The Pioneer Museum, Kaiser Center Gallery, the De young Museum in San Francisco and the Oakland Art Museum." I've seen a few of his works turn up at auction in recent years, and based on the size and overall quality of this composition, I would estimate the current fair market value at $200 to $500. Retail and asking prices do vary. If you have any questions about my appraisal, please let me know in the comments section below. Thank you again for your submission and I hope that you have a wonderful day! Kind regards, Anne
