Tapestry - Colonial like

Woven tapestry of a colonial like living room with a family. I know little of this other than it being part of wealthy uncle collection, which was an inheritance. Seems to be in fairly good condition with a few small snags. It's thread / woven into this image.

Hi Alana, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Tapestry panels such as this one were popular during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries (approx 1875-1925) during what is known as the Colonial Revival period when people were inspired by historical events and aesthetics. Unfortunately, the market for these is quite soft and related examples of similar size that have been sold at auction in the past year or so rarely bring more than $150. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: An antique Colonial Revival style framed tapestry panel In the Continental style, circa 1900 Depicting a well-appointed interior populated with furniture and people looking at paintings. Unsigned. 26 by 24 inches CONDITION: Framed. With some overall brown toning. Client reports some minor snagging. PROVENANCE: Inherited $ 100-150* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto. ~ Delia
