Persian/0r oriental rug

This rug is hand knotted wall, according to the cleaner who says it is in great condition as he has cleaned it every year or two for us. I do not know its origins. Other than my stepmother gave it to me about 30 years ago she had bought it for $5000 with her first real estate commission But was going to live at the beach and did not want it to be in that humid environment. We are moving to Portugal and are not sure we want to ship it and want to find out the value and waste to make it available for sale. We are in Winston-Salem North Carolina . The photos are the best I can do for now because it is at cleaners, wrapped with a new protective covering applied, awaiting her decision on whether to ship or sell.

Hi Carolina, Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Without seeing photos that show the rug in its entirety, or the back of one corner that would show how this is knotted and whether its wool, silk, cotton or some other kind of blend it's a little hard to be very specific in terms of value, age or region of origin. I can say with a lot of confidence that it will probably be cheaper to ship this rug than it will be to buy a new rug. Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is: A vintage Indian wool carpet 20th Century Centering a cream ground with red and beige medallions, double border. 9 by 12 feet CONDITION: This rug appears to be in good condition; value assumes no stains, tears, odors or repairs. PROVENANCE: Gift from family member about 30 years ago $ 2,500-3,500* *represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary. Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, or questions/concerns, and thank you again for using Mearto. ~ Delia
