These dolls represent traditional Kabuki theatre characters from the play “Renjishi.” The white mane lion dancer and the red mane lion dancer engage in a play in which obstacles are overcome and a child becomes and adult. The estimate is based on current auction results. "Asking prices" in the trade sometimes exceed one thousand dollars for similars.
