What does this mean?

This is a carved oak wood French Provincial or French Country style armoire that actually dates to just about 1900. It is most definitely not 17th century. The style in which this armoire is influenced, did not arise until the 1700s, aka the 18th century. Though there are 'wormholes' in the wood in areas, those appear to be straight bored in holes, which were often reproduced to give wood furniture an appearance of age. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
