Damien Hirst Auction Stats

The British artist Damien Hirst is the richest living artist in United Kingdom, who had a prominent role in the art scene in the 1990s creating internationally renowned artworks such as The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living and For the Love of God.

Hirst was, for several years, very close to influential characters in the art industry such as the collector Charles Saatchi and the art dealer Larry Gagosian. The English artist is famous for several artworks in which death is the central theme: the $12 million artwork The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living is a 14-foot tiger shark immersed in formaldehyde.

Hirst's Beautiful Inside My Head Forever sale at Sotheby's in 2008 broke the record for a single-artist auction, collecting £111 million. The most expensive Hirst’s artwork ever sold in an auction is Lullaby Spring, consisting of thousands of hand-painted pills, which was sold in 2007 for $17 million.
